Just to confuse matters more, the July/August Telescope (page 100) implies that the Lee Tregurtha sailed from the "Ford Basin" (I assume River Rouge) to Fraser (Superior) under the its new name. I assume this was a non-revenue run done sometime in March or April.

Re: Lee A/Kaye E first trip?
From the July/August 1989 issue of Telescope, page 109.
"Apr 25... Lee Tregurtha was towed out of drydock at Fraser Shipyard and loaded ore pellets the next day at the D.M.&.I.R. dock. She arrived at Rouge Steel on the 29th in Interlake colors."
I don't have a departure date for the Kaye E. Barker, unfortunately.

I don't know about the KEB, but the LAT went to Fraser and was drydocked for a five year inspection before it carried its 1st load.
Lee A/Kaye E first trip?
Lee A. Tregurtha and Kaye E. Barker were both renamed on May 13, 1989. Which one was first to depart on her first trip?
