Yes, they sometimes get western coal shipped over from MERC. Last autumn, I saw the Hon. James L. Oberstar pick up coal at MERC and make the short trip around Connor’s Point to drop it off at Graymont.

MERC has sub-bituminous coal from the Wyoming/Montana region. The Anderson brought in bituminous thermal coal from Illinois.

The Anderson delivered Eastern coal loaded in S Chicago. MERC coal is Western low sulphur.

I noticed a trip to the Twin Ports by the Arthur Anderson with coal for Graymont. Couldn't Graymont get their coal from MERC in Superior? Or, is it a special kind?
