The Cort and Gott have work boats. Can't speak to the other footers. Smaller boats may go to docks that require a work boat to bring the lines ashore, footers typically do to docks where that would not be needed.

Work and Rescue Boats

Unread post by Mr Link »

Something that I have never really paid attention to until recently is which vessels carry work boats (skiffs) and rescue boats. They don't seem to be present on most of the 1000 footers (other than on the Presque Isle barge). Most seem to only carry a lifeboat and life rafts. But many of the smaller vessels have work boats, rescue boats, life boats and rafts. Is there a reason that the larger vessel don't carry work or rescue boats? Too difficult to launch with their deep hulls? Workboats not needed for their trade patterns?
