a ship coming from the sea picks up her 1st river pilot at escoumins, quebec on the north shore of the st. lawrence river. a small independent ferry operates seasonally from escoumins to trois pistoles on the south shore.

There’s a pilots association. Not sure if they handle the $ or who does but US coast guard sets pilots pay here on the lakes.

vessels that carry pilots, how do they pay for the pilot {s} ? paid in advance, send the co. a bill, etc. does the various pilotage areas ever not get paid, re: bankruptcys, shady owners etc.

I know that Salties have to have river pilots. Do cruise ships have to use them also?
