IMO - Stelco is tiny and if their partner is a bank or VC then the purchase will be loaded down with debt. Which is very expensive today
Now if the partner is another steel company that isn't Canadian or US, the US government would probably kabash it on national security grounds.

If anyone has been watching the saga of suitors looking to buy US Steel, another potential buyer has made an appearance. STELCO, along with a partner is making a bid for US Steel.
