If you are referring to contemporary power plants, the acknowledged largest marine Diesel in the Wärtsilä RT-flex96C. Fourteen cylinder and turbocharged, the cylinder bore is 37.8 inches and stroke is 98.4 inches.

The big Colt Pielstick diesels are typically 12 to 18 cylinders and have a 15.75- inch bore and 18.11-inch stroke (400 mm by 460 mm). Vessels with the locomotive type EMD 20 cyl engines are a bore of 9-1/16”(240mm) Stroke of 10”(354mm) with comp.ratio of14.5-1. Not sure on CAT installations though, I wonder if the old Mississagi ( ex- GA Sloan) still has her CAT?

Any engineers out there...? Oiled on Imperial Collingwood back in the ‘60’s....
Am curious in a very general way...Can you tell me generally what the cylinder bore and piston stroke might be on the diesels like the big Caterpillar or Mann’s would be? Imagine they are massive numbers.
