Port schedule?/ Frequencies?

Is there any way of knowing when there will be vessel traffic at my port? I live near Grand haven Channel. Yesterday I saw one "Undaunted" that was in Indiana port that its info said it was coming here. I got up at 4AM which happened to be just in time to see them arrive. But there HAS to be a better way to know of scheduled arrivals and departures. Or is there? How to get frequencies in use? Are there any conventional ones? anything in use outside the marine band ? Something I saw suggests they may be using SMTP digital messaging protocol on marine CH69. So can't listen to that if it exists. unless it is unencrypted perhaps an SDR radio could do it.
