cargo demands

Was thinking about the future of these 1950's boats and how cargoes are changing. In particular, the Taconite commodity. The EAF's are the direction the industry is going. I know Algoma should be there shortly but don't see Cliffs or USX with plans. So it seems the blast furnaces we have will run for awhile. Where is HBI/DRI briquette industry at right now? I don't think this product is being hauled by Lakers. Can the older boats haul this type of cargo? I think they should be able to. Talk of some GLF hulls sitting in spring, in my opinion, is not likely. With the coal tonnage falling when DTE powers down, footers will have less trips with coal. Limestone seems to be strong, that's where the 50's boats are key. The times they are a changing.
