Why does Marine Traffic show the Michipicoten in British Columbia?

PS. Just looked at the USACE inland river lock reports. Per the USACE data, the Thomas K has been in the pool above Olmstead Lock and Dam since January 8th. That is the pool that includes Paducah.

Some sort of AIS anomaly is showing a false track. If you click on the vessels past track, it is a near-perfect straight line that cut across un-navigable portions of Illinois. That line seems to point back to Paducah, KY, where the vessel was reported as docked by other AIS tracking sites a few days ago.

Good morning, a start of the day check of Marine Traffic shows the tug Thomas K East of Sheboygan WI nearly in the middle of Lake Michigan. This tug is more of a river tug, lower freeboard and would not handle any sea state above a couple feet. I hope they are okay. No other tugs on the way to assist. Thanks!
