Marquette was loading very slow, frozen cargo, very long time to recharge the dock. The Munson showed up and left, the others cancled their loads. They did not want to risk getting stuck in the Lake when the locks closed or having to flee Marquette with a partial load to make the cutoff.

I was wondering IF the Munson was ever loaded or not in Marquette after spending a day or so there? Then yesterday, I saw on their AIS that they left Marquette and was headed for Duluth-Superior. So, that really got me head scratching and asking and wondering “Did they take on a partial load, then going to Duluth-Superior to finish it up there?” Obviously that is not the case now with the Munson sailing for Duluth-Superior to load there. I too saw the change in orders on the American Spirit from Marquette to Two Harbors and when I first saw that they were going to Marquette to load, I was a little bit surprised to see them heading there since they usually load ore pellets from either Duluth-Superior, Two Harbors or Silver Bay. Yes, I’m well aware of the Spirit loading in Marquette before and that she is certainly capable of loading there as she’s done it before. It just surprised me though at first when I saw Marquette on their AIS before it was changed to Two Harbors!
