Re: James Norris
James Norris has been moved back to wharf 17 the old Furnace Dock today. There is a large crane on site but no clear indication of the activity. Nothing else has been moved in the scrap yard.
Re: James Norris
Badger has a different type of Unaflow's than what the Norris has. Part's are not interchangeable.

Re: James Norris
I meant of course to say Algoma. Was typing that out on a mobile device and somewhat managed to leave out the g both times.
To add a bit more to what I said, the terms of sale wouldn't prohibit it even if Algoma inserted a clause that said IMS wasn't allowed to resell the vessel.
That's how the Algocen and Teakglen came back even though it was reported here that there were contractual terms that said they couldn't be resold to an operator when they were finished with them. It seems pretty widely held around here from past discussions that such terms wouldn't stand up in a court of law.
So they're not legally prevented from reselling her to Lower Lakes, they just wouldn't since it's not going to do their business any good. They're in the business of shipbreaking, they're not going to risk the flow of raw material into their yard for a few extra dollars now by selling the Norris to an operator.
Only way she'd come back in an 11th hour reprieve is if Algoma suddenly decided they had need for her after all and repurchased her, or if some competitor performed a miracle and convinced Algoma to okay the transaction. And that's not something likely to happen these days with how well Lower Lakes is doing unlike in years gone by where they were just a small operator with a handful of ships.
They're one of the big fleets on the lakes now and a force to be reckoned with. They're not operating on the fringes of the industry like they were even just ten years ago.
I wonder if the engineroom is going to be stripped for parts by the Badger or St. Mary's Challenger's owners? I would think she might be a goldmine of spare parts for these rare engines.

Re: James Norris
If Aloma wanted her in the hands of the competition (Namely Lower Lakes), they'd of done it themselves instead of selling it for her scrap value. She's done, no way would IMS give up their chance to bid on retired Aloma ships in the future and jeapordize their business relationship with other fleets by reselling a vessel bought for scrap to a competitor.

Re: James Norris
She has been stripped out with debris on her deck. Cdn Leader is completely gone, not sure if Norris will be next or the small former coast guard vessel and tug are on the chopping block. Should be clear in a week or so given the recent pace of work at IMS

James Norris
Is there any chance at all the Norris could be saved, or was there something in the terms of the sale that made that impossible?
