Soo Locks Park Tree Removal

I stopped going to the Locks Park regularly after they installed the Plexiglas on the two end viewing platforms, but I go there occasionally when visiting the Soo. I always enjoyed & marveled at the shade & trees in the park. It always seemed so peaceful. Now I have no reason to go back to the Locks Park.

I’m guessing certain commentators on the Soo Evening News story are correct, that this is driven more by security concerns than historical ones. Too bad.

Can thank the State Historic Preservation Office, too.
That would be headed by Mr. Brian Conway in Lansing.

They would have been involved to give clearance to go back to the 40s look as it is a historic site.

So far, the people commenting on this story (and there are quite a few) are outraged over the removal of the trees.

If you care at all about the beautiful trees being cut down in the Locks park, go to the site below and leave your comments. Better yet write a letter to someone who might be able to influence a cease and desist order or something. This is abominable, and unnecessary!
