Leon Crumpler

Leon (Andy) Crumpler passed away on October 4, 2010. He had sailed for Cleveland Cliffs in the fifies. He left Cliffs as a third mate and moved to Florida in the early sixties where he worked briefly at the family charter fishing business. He subsequently returned to the Lakes and went to work for Inland Steel until he retired in 1993. He was first mate on the Edward L. Ryerson when he retired. Information was provided by his wife Maxine. She continues to reside in Fort Myers, Florida. He was 82 at the time of death.
