Boatswain Mate 3 and 2
Re: Boatswain Mate 3 and 2
It is dismaying to read that Navy rate training manuals paid for by U.S. taxpayers are now being sold for so much. If you were on active duty they were always free. I personally have P.N.E, and all training manuals for all engineering ratings and to have to purchase them would cost almost 2K.

Before anyone uses Amazon, they might want to check on Abebooks for copies. The site is a treasure trove of military publications of all kinds. There is a copy of the Boatswain 3 and 2 listed at $137.00. The fastest way to search for something like that is search for Bureau of Navy Personnel under author.Alakshak wrote:If anyone wants to learn the fundamentals, nomenclature and basics of ship operations I have found a great book.
It is called Boatswain Mate 3 and 2. Attached is a link: http://www.amazon.com/Boatswains-Traini ... B000MUQ7S2
The Chief Engineer aboard the M/V Manistee recommended it to me for an informative book that he was required to use in the Navy, but it is also interesting to pick up and flip thru. It may be pricey, watch amazon.com for specials.
