The engine room onboard the Manitowoc has been copletely gutted, in order to sell the barge in the future, or haul actual cargo it needed a load line, and it could not get one with all that weight in her belly. It was gutted a few years ago.

There's been some discussion about repowering Delphine, so these unique Quads are actually threatened.

Are there any available photos of her engine room. I mean, this is a discussion of quadruple expansion steam engines. It would be really interesting to see the guts of this beauty.

Sorry about that Shawn, I knew it began with an "M". Anyway, was interesting to go inside. Very dark in there.

Just a little off topic, The old ferry Milwaukee (now a deck barge at KK Logistics in Menominee, MI.) has 4 compound 2 cylinder engines buried below her deck in one engine room (still in there). 2 shafts go forward under the boilers (still in there) and 2 shafts go aft.

The last operating Quadruple Expansion Steam Engines built on the Great Lakes (2) are still in the ex Dodge Yacht Delphine. She is currently laid up in Tunisia

There were many more that had Quads in their bellies:

Ralph Budd, Robert W E Bunsen, Conneaut, Cornell, James E Davidson, John Dunn Jr, Wm Edenborn, Isaac Ellwood, Sparkman Foster,Hamonic....

The list goes on and on

The Cort is about as far as you can get from a quadruple expansion steam engine. That's what the poster was referring to.

Need your help in doing some research for marketing a project. Any help would be appreciated. Are there any more "quads" on the great lakes other than:

Milwaukee Clipper
Keewatin
EM Ford

That's all I can think of. Did I miss any?
