I heard that from 3 sources, one was a guy I work with at the railroad that heard rumors about that through contacts we have through the buisiness end, and then I also heard the same thing from a friend with a son in the shipping industry, and then again when I asked around about it at the Shipmaster's meeting last weekend. All 3 sources said the same thing, that the old Foundry building at the Gateway Terminal was going to house a new sand operation there and the old facility would close and be removed for access along the waterfront.

Re: Manistee
B in B, do you know anyone I could contact from the Sand Company or the City of Buffalo? Where have you heard of the plan to turn it into public use? Is there a website?
Re: Manistee
Supposedly, the area along the City Ship Canal is to be turned over for public use soon, and the Sand Supply Co. Landing along with the CSX tracks to the South are supposed to be removed. I guess they are going to be moving to one of the old foundry buildings at the Gateway Metroport. Much to my dismay.

Re: Manistee
I suspect the move has two driving factors.
1.) Port Security at Gateway
2.) The changes to traffic as a result of the new parkway make the current location more logiticly challanging, then the old Rt. 5 and Fuhrman Blvd layout.

Re: Manistee
May I ask where you heard this? They have been where they are now for more than 60 years. Why move?
Re: Manistee
