When I saw photos and video of the Maria Dalores, the ferry that evacuated Americans and others from Libya today, I thought it looked very familiar. It turns out it was built by Austal at about the same time as two of their vessels that served or serve on the Great Lakes. At 68 meters, it is a bit bigger than the Lake Express (58 m) and smaller than Spirit of Ontario 1 (87 m).
