Don't know how I missed that, but I did. It seems to have been registered under that same name from the time it was built until it was officially abandoned sometime before June 30, 1922

Any guess as to the date of the photo? If no one has any information I'd be happy to do some searching the next time I go to the local library if you have an era to focus on. Didn't see anything matching that name under steam vessels in the 1900-1935 and 1950-1970 era Merchant Vessels of the United States that are available on line, but I only looked at every 5th year or so. I haven;t found any 1935 to 1950 MVUS editions available on line yet. They have been scanned by libraries but not put into the public domain yet, which is frustrating since US documents are not copyrighted.

I have had a photo of a U. S .steam tug named W. A. Boles on my desk for some time because I cannot find it in any register in my own collection. I cannot file this photo properly without data on it. Seeking help, and i will share the photo with readers when i get it scanned. g.o.
