We tied up next to her in Quebec City on June 22nd; I am also under the impression that she had been doing a Silver Bay iron ore run.

I spotted her sailing past Prescott, ON on June 19, 2010 heading East. I took this from the top of Fort Wellington. I only wish I was down at the shore so I could have avoided those pesky power lines.

On another note I also saw BBC Sweden and Commodore Straits with BIG 549 sail by later that same day.

Did you get your pictures yet?

Kaministiqua departed Silver Bay (Duluth) at 09:25 on Monday June 28th.

Marcel:

According to the Lock 8 schedule, Kaministiqua is due at 5am on Thursday June 24th. As I'm sure you realize, that is very subject to change.

Hope you caught Kaministiqua this morning. It's now 11:25am Friday, and she is already out of Lock 8 downbound.

Regardless, probably back upbound over the weekend.

The Kaministiqua is headed for Quebec so she won't be back in the canal before Tuesday.

The Kam has been bringing ore out of Silver Bay and bringing it to the Seaway her last few trips.

Hey Marcel,

The Seaway's extensive & informative website has a map where you can view vessels in the Eastern portion of the system (following link).
http://www.greatlakes-seaway.com/en/nav ... index.html

It has a list of the transiting vessels, & if you click on the Welland Canal tab, it'll bring up a Canal area map. Since it's a Google map, it's interactive: you can zoom in, pan over, etc., etc. When the Kam comes near, it'll be on this map.

Last but not least, the link below allows you to view ETAs for vessels based on their arrival at a specific lock. In your case, click on the white window to the right of where it says, "Order of Turn - By Lock," then click on "Welland Lock 8." That will bring up a list of vessels expected at Lock 8, along with their ETAs.

Good luck getting your pictures!

Marcel:

Kaministiqua has been through Port Colborne several times already this year. Not sure what runs she is doing, but it seems to me that Kaministiqua is in the Canal every 3 or 4 days.

She was downbound into Lake Ontario on June 6th. Pretty sure she's been back upbound since then.

Here's a link to a picture that I took of Kaministiqua between Lock 8 and Bridge 21 on May 16th.

Is the M.V.Kaministiqua sailing this year and if so where is she running to? I originally sailed on her in 1985-88 as the Saskatatchewan Pioneer, she was by far my favourite ship that I sailed on. The reason I am asking this question is I live in Port Colborne and am retired now so i spend a lot of time riding my bicycle along the path along the canal (from Rameys bend to the PC Piers and take tons of photos, I have a picture of sask Pi in every livery except her new colours. I have been checking the welland canal every day pretty much (there isn't much traffic any more)and would like to get a picture of her. Many thanks for any info.
