What was the point of that move ?
She cannot sit on the approach wall to Lock 8 in Port Colborne with the shipping season underway, she had to move.

The Olympic was not allowed to stay at her layup Dock at Port Colborne when the Welland Canal opened up for the season. The dock she was at is used to service active vessels that transit the Canal thru out the season. This is why she was moved to Owen Sound for layup.

This is a bit off subject but, regarding the Algoma Olympic that is in Owen Sound for "temporary lay-up from the Algoma VP page, is Canada's economy worse than the U.S. or about the same thing?" The reasons I ask that is, just look at last year at all of the ships from Canada that were laid-up with three Algoma ships in Sarnia at one point and even the Algoma Olympic was in Toronto. The grain trade was slow last year and sometimes I realize it is with some of the ships going in and out of lay-up. My point is at least in 2015 it seemed that more Canadian ships were at the wall and in and out of lay-up than the U.S. ones were. Any information is appreciated. Thanks in advance. No pun intended either just curious is all here!

You sure its in layup? Seems strange they would outfit the Algoma Olympic (it will always be the Canadian Olympic to me) and sail it from Port Colborne to Owen Sound just to lay it up. Are there mechanical issues or a sudden change in demand?

The Algoma vessel passage page mentions that they are there for "temporary lay-up." I am surprised to learn when they left from Port Colborne this week that they ended up in Owen Sound and for "temporary lay-up." Anyone know the reasons that they are in Owen Sound in the first place? Also, what part of the harbor area are they laid-up at the East or West Wall? With the Algoway and the Martin there along with the Chi-Cheemaun, I would think it must be "tight quarters for them but I may be wrong as well."
