Yeah I guess in the early to mid 80's her winter caretakers weren't taking much care of her and failed to notice some of her sea chests on the Port side were had either rusted through or had been forced into an open position by ice. When the morning crew came in she was in the process of rolling over, saved only by her hull touching bottom.
Pumping out the water only solved some of the problem so concrete ballast was added to several compartments on her Stbd side to right her. I'm told there are compartments along her Stbd side which are filled to the hatches with concrete.
As for the mold, well I'm only guessing at that from what I've seen in some of the outer rooms. Who knows what her deep-interiors look like.
Oh, and I guess one of the areas up for restoration when the Cruiser Assn returns is the lower missile mag area, so that may be part of the tour soon enough!
