Re: Marine Museum of the Great Lakes Sold

read the article; a developer who is not just totally fixated on the bottom line? they should mount a parade in his honor.
Hope it is permanent though, the temptation to kick the museum out and build over it must be massive.

Amen to that. Operating a maritime museum can be trying. Especially ...

Thanks Mr Link. I enjoyed surfing the aerial mapping.
I wonder why Bing uses such old images. They are at least ten years old.

Re: 2016 cleveland activity

The Illinois assisted the Manitowoc down the Cuyohoga today. Looks like the Iowa is having some work done at the old GW dock. There are two cutters in Station Cleveland.
Folks are out fishing now at 55* on the lakefront.
I found this old photo of collision bend. It had to have been taken after ...

Re: Accessible Winter Layup Locations

The maritime setting these days has all Maritime Waterfront Facilities under security protocols. If you see a MARSEC sign, you should stop.
It's just the day and age we live in especially when you mix in international trade vs terrorism tendencies.
Then & after all that, there is the environmental ...

I am sorry for your loss Pam. Shirley was an Irish sweetie. I found myself going after the night shots of boats just for her. I will miss her.

Thanks Shirl!

Maritime activity has been very light. The Robert S Pierson was in with a load of coal. I saw these two fleet mates pass last Friday.

Re: Cleveland Activity

Forgot to post this picture. We have been seeing an American Bald Eagle lately downtown. We also found these remains of a seagull. It had to be a bird that did this. I guess at it being the Eagle that ate this bird. It does not like "wings" either. Anyone know what eats a gull like this? Is it the ...

The days are short now. It is that time of year when a boat can sail up the river, unload, and sail back down all under darkness.
Last night the Manistee sailed up the river.

The bridge lights are still blue. The same boats are rotating in and out.
I see out the window that GTugs are tying up at the old GW docks now. They have not done that in the last few years. Their old river channel may be full of boats in for work. Or, I hear the Willow lift bridge is getting some ...

You're welcome Shirl. Now that you mention transportation, here is a person that used a four wheeled gas powered vehicle that tried to get wings or use this divider as a rail! Neat Bookworm! I wonder how she differs from the USS Freedom. The USS Freedom stopped here in her maiden season. They demonstrated it by zooming around and shooting rooster tails really high while up on plane. It was very memorable. I was lucky enough to get aboard her too.
I hope the USS Milwaukee ...
