yes there is to much premade food in the galley, but I have seen and use as much fresh food as possible in the galleys of today.

The most ready to use food I see today is soups. besides that I do see most ships using pre made ready to cook cookies

On my last posting I had to deal with that quite often because we had researchers come and go. I was given a list before they came on and did my best to offer them alternatives. thankfully I never had one with a life threatening type. just regular food allergies.

As for not paying the crew,in today's economy I wouldn't count on that. Not many i know can afford 40 plus days unpaid.

Don't know about the gulf but for my line of work. Chefs, the gulf seems to mostly catering companies that won't pay anything . As for regular sailors I don't know

Reality tv is such a joke. Yes there ae problems and issues. As the cook I hear most of them. 99% of the time the crew work them out
