Is the Altadoc pilot house still at Copper Harbor? Only time I was up the was in the middle of winter 7 or 8 years ago and didn't see it then. Whole place was a ghost town, I'd think I would have noticed a pilot house.

It was at a motel down by the water. It burned quite a few years ago and I believe nothing was salvageable.

Still another pilothouse is in Bayfield, WI at the Bayfield Maritime Museum.

From the carferry 'Ann Arbor No 7', removed when it was rebuilt into the Viking at Fraser shipyard. Last I heard the 'new' pilothouse was removed from the Viking when it was cut down to a barge & is destined to go to Manistique.MI.

Also surprised that no one has mentioned the pilot house in Canal Park, seems to me it's off either the George Crawford or one of the Hindman boats. It was a gift shop for many years, more recently it's become a bike rental shop.

Thanks for the article on Goldfines. I remember the pilot house on top the store well, couldn't miss it if you turned off on Garfield Ave coming off the big bridge.

The "pilot house" on Harsens Island is not off of a ship. It was built in-place over a boat well.

Thanks for the info! I seem to recall a local once mentioning it came off an old Cleveland Cliffs boat...so I'm really glad to know the truth.

Not Lake Superior, but the first pilothouse of the Pontiac is on display at the Great Lakes Maritime Academy in Traverse City. Also, the stack of the Imperial Hamilton remains at a hotel on the U.S. side of the St. Clair River. The pilothouse of the Shelter Bay at the museum in Goderich was also left out.

Is that the stack the one sitting at the motel between Algonac and Marine City?

Also, I remember someone mentioning a pilothouse located on a boat dock on Harsens Island back in the early 1980s. I remember hearing about it growing up and that it was on the shipping channel but have never heard any further reference to it over the years.

Here is a closer view of the Charles Hebard pilothouse at the Best Western motel.

In addition, I saw no mention of the Frontenac's pilothouse at the Two Harbors museum in the original article on the news page. The museum was closed when I was there, but I have attached a long range photo of the pilothouse. Too bad they didn't keep it painted in Cleveland Cliffs olive drab.

There is still another pilothouse from an unknown vessel, which has been sitting in the Azcon scrapyard in Duluth for many years, see attached photo. This is the scrapyard where the J. B. Ford was towed to last year and is awaiting its final demise.

Its amazing how the Hebard's pilothouse has moved around since its removal from the ship.

That pilothouse along U.S. 2 was from a tug (I've forgotten the name). It was later sold to someone who intended to restore it and removed from that site.

The old Hebard pilothouse was, last time I saw it, attached to the Best Western Bridgeview that's right next to the Blatnik Bridge. It was serving as a gift shop.

Some (10?) years ago I saw an old wooden ship's pilothouse next to a residence east of Superior, WI - I forget if it was on state highway 13 or if on US highway 2. It was in moderate disrepair. Does anybody know what boat this came from?

I don't know if the Hebard pilothouse still exists, but for a while it was on top of the old Goldfine's-By-The-Bridge store in Duluth, then removed to Superior next to the Meteor. Attached picture is of it being either placed or removed from that store. One that still exists is the pilothouse from the Irvin Clymer on the end of a pier across the harbor from the Aerial Bridge in Duluth, picture attached
