Re: Herbert C. Jackson updates
I noticed this morning the Herbert C. Jackson has her AIS turned on.
Re: Herbert C. Jackson updates
She's not getting scrubbers, they've just run into alot of delays. Sounds like early to mid next month for her completion

Re: Herbert C. Jackson updates
You are reading my mind Brindfan as I am thinking the same thing as well regarding the Herbert C. Jackson. Granted I know that they had that fire aboard her some time back that may have pushed back the conversion project to diesel somewhat but, I did not think it would take this long to do the conversion project and granted Yes I do know that a lot is being done on her. Besides the switch from steam to diesels, she is getting the scrubbers system as well if I am correct? So, lots of inside work IMO that they are doing on her and I am sure that takes lots of work and time. Just be glad to see the classy girl back out again as she is one of my favorites!
Re: Herbert C. Jackson updates
OK, we are starting the third week of August, any news on a sailing date or shakedown run?

Re: Herbert C. Jackson updates
Today, 7-19, the shutters that have been on the pilot house windows have been removed so I assume some of the crew has been called back to start getting things ready to go.

Re: Herbert C. Jackson updates
I was aboard today and alot of work still going on but alot of work is done, it is moving from the drydock to the new dock right behind the drydock at about 8am on Sunday. It will be a while before it gets going out sailing.

Re: Herbert C. Jackson updates
Thanks everyone for the updates on the HC. I would strongly have to say and suggest that I am sure Interlake and the crew of the Jackson will probably want to do a test "or Sea Trials" on the new system first just to see how it would handle and operate before they begin to return the ship to regular trading? I am not sure if in the past, they have done this on the other repowerings in their fleet or not? Maybe someone knows more on this issue than I do as far as any test or Sea Trials. If I recall correctly, didn't CSL do some Sea Trials on the CSL Niagara, Laurentien, Assiniboine and the Martin after they were all repowered at Sturgeon Bay in the past few seasons? If they plan to get the project done then by the second week of August and they are removing her from drydock, then I would think that some Sea Trials or test could take place? This is only me thinking here and my thoughts only on this is all!
Re: Herbert C. Jackson updates
They're just removing her from drydock. They're hoping to have the project completed by the second week of August

Re: Herbert C. Jackson updates
Thanks for your reply and response DCN on my Jackson questions as that helped a little bit. Guess we will just have to keep reading and checking the news both here and on the Interlake website as far as when she will be completed and return to service this year. It sure will be strange and also odd now referring her now as the "M/V Herbert C. Jackson as to the Str. Herbert C. Jackson."
Re: Herbert C. Jackson updates
Should be put later this month or early August
Re: Herbert C. Jackson updates
Was in Superior the end of June and there was a lot of activity on the Jackson. She was still in the graving dock at Fraser and the pilot house still had shutters on the windows but there was always a lot of activity at the stern when I passed by. She looked pretty put back together, from the outside anyway. Probably wont be that much longer before she's out.

Herbert C. Jackson updates
Has anyone heard or has there been any information about when the Herbert C. Jackson will return to service and be out sailing in 2016? I would have thought by now that the conversion project from steam to diesel would have been just about finished by now! Before anyone reminds me btw about the fire aboard her a few weeks back, you don't need to tell me as I already read and knew about that! I realize that this unfortunate event may have pushed back the completion time and date of the project. However I also thought that I read and heard here, where in spite of the fire that they did not expect that to delay the finish of converting her from steam to diesel though? Any news and information is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
