Does anyone know where/or for who this cargo was destined? Was it for transshipment overseas to another Arcelormittal facility?

All ships need pilots below Montreal, even the Canadian Ships with lots of trips.

While sailing in Seaway waters the Block needs a Pilot!,but after a few trips,wouldn't the Captain earn the experience and no longer need a Pilot? thank You mn brett

I see the Block is scheduled again, according to duluthboats.com, at BNSF#5 again on 12/9. Wonder if it will be another Quebec City load?

As of 8 AM on 12-1-16 the Block is still showing at anchor while it appears all other area traffic is moving normally.

The Block would require a pilot. Perhaps they had to wait for one.

Apologies re yesterday's posting.....early morning dyslexia yesterday when looking at Facts and Figures Chart....70 on chart was in fact Port Weller to Silver Bay....you are correct Port Weller to Quebec on chart it does indicate 45..Always seemed longer than that on the SS Georgian Bay when on wheel and if short handed working 6 on 6 off always in river!..but now Block being at anchor (perhaps for river pilot and/or weather) guess may be closer to70 after all!

As of 7:00 AM EST she is through Welland Canal and on Lake Ontario a couple hours from Port Weller. That would based on charts put her into Quebec City early Saturday AM approx 6 AM. (70 hours from Port Weller)

Well all the boats in the St Clair are stopped right now, including the Block. Anyone know why?

In looking at its past track, I don't see the Block stopping in the St. Clair River or Lake St. Clair. As mentioned by a previous poster, however, it did stop for fuel after turning below the entrance to the Rouge River.

Block stopped for fuel. It's out in Lake Erie now.
