Interestingly a report on the Splash24/7 website says that less than one in three of the more than 100 ships currently on order from the
Yangzijiang Shipyard will produce a profit for the shipyard.

Yes, the Conveyor will be the last newbuild coming over from China unless Algoma decides to place another order. The order placed at Yangzijiang was for the Niagara and Sault only. The rest are all being built in Croatia. Interestingly this time the Chinese yard delivered much faster.

As of 8:10 p.m. just checked her AIS and it appears that she is still at anchor on the Pacific side of the Panama Canal still awaiting her turn to transit the canal. Also if my understanding is correct, she is the last ship to come from China for now at least until the Algoma Conveyor is then completed at some point next year in 2019 as to when they are due to enter service.

Just a heads up and to let everyone know that may be following the Algoma Sault, the new vessel for Algoma Central Corp. arrived at the Pacific Anchorage of the Panama Canal early this morning to await her turn to transit the canal. I would expect as in the past with their previous ships, she should be arriving in Canada within about 1-2 weeks give or take? Will probably load her first cargo in Port Cartier I suppose and then deliver it to Hamilton, Ontario from there. Not sure then if she will have her deck stiffeners removed in Hamilton or she will keep them on for a while yet? Also the ship is registered in Tuvalu with a foreign crew but, I expect that will also change once she arrives in Canada and loads her first cargo soon.
