The brine is transported by pipeline from two Enbridge wells northeast of the village of Brigden to a large storage tank a short distance inland from the river until loaded onto McKeil's barge.

Yes. Tanks can be used for ballast or certain liquid cargos.

The Brine Dock. Not sure who operates it, but McKeil visits there frequently. The dock is the former barge Erie-West.

What is the dock just north of the DTE Power Plant on the Canadian side of the St. Clair River?
Tug/Barge Wilf Seymour/Alouette Spirit visited there on April 24.
