Thanks for the video. I am not a Facebook user. I have watched boating loading / unloading in Lorain and at Hallet #5 in Duluth. This method has never struck me as either efficient or safe. Backing up payloaders present some real problems. If the figure of three million tons down the Seaway this year is correct, I'd say a reclaimer on the storage pile and a belt system to the old P&C coal dock might be the way to go. Thanks to all, Mike

Thanks, the link to YouTube was posted about the same time as my inquiry. Its a great video and thanks to Pazzo for putting it on there. I have posted 2 photo's from Shorpy dated 1900 of Conneaut to show what a difference there is today from yesteryear.
We only unloaded in Conneaut a half dozen times but I always enjoyed my time there as it was a busy port and lots going on.

I will post some drone footage from her load... keep a look out for it on the Facebook sites. Excuse the cheesy music I incorporate.

Mike, if you have Facebook go on Fans of Know Your Ships and in the search box type in Algoma Spirit loading ore in Conneaut and a few pictures will pop up from a few yrs. ago.

Pictures I've seen it looks like they load along the dock face where the huletts used to be. They use a Telestacker type loader(s).

Probably the ore is Minntac ore that's owned by U.S. Steel. So indirectly it does have something to do with USS.

Would more iron ore pellets then be going to Conneaut instead of Gary Works and then being transloaded into smaller size ships for the trip and run down the Seaway to offload? This is just thoughts along with my own theories that I have so please keep this in mind. Thanks for any information one may have on this.
Might also be instead of sending several Seaway sized lakers to Lake Superior you send a couple footers to Conneaut with pellets and then transship from there.

CSL Assiniboine will arrive on Friday for another transload. I've heard there are around 20 loads that are supposed to be picked up in the coming 2 months. Conjecture, but the busiest that Conneaut has been in a long time!

It's been used as a transshipment port in the past. This load would be Minntac ore.
