Re: CSL visiting west Michigan ports
You are entirely correct on that. I was going to create a topic concerning this inaccuracy on the Boatnerd News page. I believe that the CSL Assiniboine went into Muskegon back in late 2014. As for the West Michigan ports, I believe several CSL vessels have visited them in the past in addition to the ones you mentioned going into Grand Haven. I would have to do some searching of some old marine journals but I seem to recall the Manitoulin and Frontenac also being involved. Also, I would tend to believe that some of the CSL canallers may have also called at these port duirng the first half of the 1900s.

Saw her southbound off of Duck Lake.... instantly recognized as a CSL boat. Figured she was either dodging some weather I didn't know about or heading to Muskegon. Then we saw her again later, on the east side of Muskegon Lake heading to Verplanks.
I remember the Tarantau coming to Grand Haven too..... she came in tight to another boat--don't recall which one--loading at the time. Both boats really filled up the river.
Was nice to see CSL boats once in a blue moon........ and when Algoma and Upper Lakes merged to form Seaway Self-Unloaders it was really nice seeing Upper Lakes boats coming to town.

The visit by the Atlantic Huron into Muskegon recently was indeed rare. This is not the first time CSL has visited West Michigan. The Tarantau and CSL Niagra (perhaps there are others) visited Grand Haven years ago.
