Maybe Great Lakes Towing should consider doing a patriotic paint scheme on the Minnesota as well. I saw it recently in the Rouge and its not very old red paint looked severely faded already. I suspect that might have to do with the huge seagull population that hangs out near the tug dock.

The fleets today can't even paint the hulls at each five year inspection. No chance of special colors for the 250th.

Nothing so far Ohio Bob however, there’s still lots of time yet before the 250th birthday celebration in July so you never know! I would say one to look for possibly would be the Alpena maybe as the time gets closer. Maybe they might have something special for the 250th birthday? We’ll see though.

Semisesquicentennial Colors

Unread post by Ohio Bob »

As a young Boatnerd in 1976, I remember the great pride much of the American fleet displayed with colors, logos and flags on their vessels celebrating the bicentennial. Kind of sad not to see the same this year for the much harder to pronounce Semisesquicentennial. 250 years of Independence is worth celebrating.

Has anyone seen any vessel honoring the year?
