Re: Michipicoten question
Yes, per her certificate of inspection, she would have had to have a full crew to sail.

Re: Michipicoten question
Thanks for the information Denny. I knew lower lakes lays up maney of there vessels in Sarnia and Sturgon Bay always has a large fleet of vessels lay up there as well. I mainly was wondering how much it cost lower lakes just to move her from Sturgon Bay to Sarnia? Would she have had a full crew?
Re: Michipicoten question
Did anyone get pictures of the Michipicoten with her new paint?

Re: Michipicoten question
Hi Dan, probably the main reason for her departing Sturgeon Bay for Sarnia is to "accomodate" and make extra room there so more vessels could fit in. Sturgeon Bay usually has more than 12 boats every winter for lay-up and some of them have to go into the large graving dock for their 5-year surveys and sometimes to get repainted as well. This usually takes upwards of 10 days or more sometimes with a vessel getting a 5-year and paint work and any other work needed. Lower Lakes boats usually layup in Sarnia anyway for the winter and they have done this in the past so it is not uncommon.

Michipicoten question
I know she had her 5yr just done in Sturgon Bay. My question is why didnt she just stay there for the winter rather then fit out just to travel to Sarnia just to lay up. I know shipping companys only make money if there vessels are out sailing hauling cargo, so why in my eyes make this pointless trip? In a case like this would there be a full crew includeing galley crew? Thanks for any information
