Yes....on the Duluth/Superior Shipping News schedule for the
Great Lakes freighters....on May 3rd the Stewart J. Cort will
be in the Twin Ports/Superior.....and with the American Integrity
out on the lakes...the Kaye Barker cannot be far behind, with
work continuing on her, I imagine it may be mid or end of May ??

I'll try an get an update on the Kaye Barker soon.

Have a great weekend, GaryJ.

There's all kinds of activity around this boat on the time-lapse Milwaukee Inner Harbor cam. It's on the schedule at duluthboats.com, too.

tis why I posted as I did back when I received
the information from the folks at InterLakes as
I did....the Cort will be ( barring delays ) out
on the Great Lakes around May 1st..... and
was told that with all the work needed on
the Kaye Barker they were looking at later
in May to be sailing...hopefully...but they
mentioned it was not concrete...so depending
on how quickly the work is completed, and
crew assembled...was all that was told
to me.... so stay tuned.

Its a given fact that they have posted job
positions , am certain they were surprized
an could not foresee the shipping season
rebound in having all of their freighter fleet
being out this early spring....its really
awesome to see, and I am sure we all
want to see this continue right thru the
later this fall.

The Cort is not up for the 5 year survey until this fall. Interlake got some oreders so they will sail her to fill the orders and will have to dock it this winter. The Kay barker is going alright, there is much more work than anticipated of course. She wont be floating for another few weeks or so, the prop shaft had to be sent out and reconditioned so the hub/blades/shaft are a large factor in timing. Painting has not begun on the after half yet, still blasting.

Burns Harbor. The unloading hopper at the mill is the only place the SC can unload.

Do not forget that it was posted that the Cort need a 5 year and that she was going SB for the work. Since there has been no movement [that you can see in the cams] I am wondering if they are going to tow her up to the yard. Also Interlake is looking for mates. They maybe having a staffing problem with the Court also. There are a lot of "IF" with this boat. Kaye Baker was listed as first part of may when the news story posted about going in for her 5 year. Only time will tell Charlie

Have word that the Stewart J Cort will be out of port from Milwaukee
for the first time since late 2008 an will be on the Great Lakes around 5/1 .... the Kaye Barker which is presently being repainted is expected to go out later in May sometimes, or thats what they're planning for.

The Cort will be hauling iron ore from Duluth to Chicago as reported to boatnerd several weeks ago.

Have a great week, enjoy the nice weather.
