The Buffalo is backing down the river now. She is moving faster than any I have ever watched it seems.

Not stuck. Just backed up and plied through again. She is out of sight now.

The John J Boland just sailed into Cleveland Harbor and appears to be stuck in the ice.

The American Republic sailed up the river and interrupted the unloading of the Calumet. The Calumet stopped unloading and moved forward placing the forward end under the railroad bridge while the boom was still out. The AR then passed her. I did not think there was enough room. They did it ever so slowly.

The Calumet sailed up river at 07:00 today and is unloading stone south of the Lorain Carnegie Bridge now.

The Browns game traffic is ramping up. There are traffic issues mounting including a car flipped on the freeway leading into the downtown streets. The Ravens Are Here. Again. News at 11.

Ships in port give the Browns fits since the newer Martime security regs came into play. The Browns contract with the 'Port for parking on their grounds during gameday. They raised the parking to $25 this year. It is good money. However, when there is a ship in port they close a large section to support the security regs around the salty and they lose a big portion of the nearby parking. The Browns and the USCG have been in discussions. The Browns will not win that one in my opinion because The USCG has a better defense...

McKee Sons was unloading coal yesterday. The Buffalo sailed up river at 05:30 today.

The Sam Laud has been sailing up & down the river. I think Sam was fueling over by West Third Street around 5am today before backing down the river.

It was the Manistee I saw unloading the other day.

Our lighthouse pictures are showing up all over the globe it seems. I guess that is better than images of a burning river, The FBI raiding our county offices, or some of our highest "leaders" being led away in handcuffs...cheers b

Lots of looks lately. Algosar yesterday. Maumee too. The American Republic is backing down approaching collision bend right now. There is a lower lakes boat unloading limestone under the L/C bridge right now too. Lots of flying rats. CPD activity on the East banks right now.

We saw the Sam Laud on the river yesterday. We have a lot of salties in Port. There were a few whistles heard on the river last night but we didn't get out of bed to see. One of them was a long and Two shorts. What does that mean again, under tow?

Anyway, the Maumee is sailing up the river now loaded down. Hope the old girl finds a wall somewhere because it is going to start blowing here tonight (45mph) with a foot of snow as well. We have rain now and it will turn when the low hits us. We stocked up the old ice box and will ride it out.

Tug whistles were: 1 long, 1 short, ready to start tow; 1 long, 2 short, let go the bow towing line; 1 long, 3 short let go the stern towing line.

I was reading over on the news channel and came across this statement:

"Port Burwell recently took a tourism prize from Port Stanley when the Elgin Military Museum decided to locate the decommissioned submarine Ojibwa there amidst municipal indifference in Port Stanley. The cold-war area boat and museum is forecast to draw as many as 100,000 visitors a year."

The maritime attractions are always great to have. Many folks seek them out for a visit. They are always a treat and are often staffed with dedicated friendly folks.

The above forecast of "as many as 100,000 visitors a year" is misleading in my opinion. The more accurate number is if they were to get 15K to 20,000 visitors a year if you were to compare it to other maritime attractions around the Lakes. Right? ...promote a few ghost sightings on board and they will add to the visitation numbers...

The casino and usace are rolling out an old plan to eliminate collision bend from the navigable cuyahoga. I like it. It opens lots of possibilities.

'Takes you to the Casino projects rendering of the Casino after narrowing collision bend. The rendering is a video clip they used with the USACE presentation. The next clip after that clip is short and shows a boat in collision bend. The showed St Mary's Cement II. Poor example huh?

Algoway arrived today and is in the river unloading near the west Third Street Bridge.

The Buffalo sailed up river and under the Carter Rd. Bridge a little while ago. She came to a stop just after passing under the bridge because the Sam Laud was approaching. They passed each other ever so slowly. The Sam Laud is now stopped at the same Bridge. Work crews are wrenching on the bridge. scratch that, the bridge is back in service.

The Barge St Marys Cement II arrived from the east yesterday and sailed down river this morning.

This news report of a maritime incident off the coast of California/LA makes more sense than what the government tells us. It is hair raising. What do ya think old BO will do?

It looks like it will literally take an Act of Congress to make that developer's idea go. Any congressperson that votes for narrowing the channel should have to explain to those steel workers producing steel why he or she prefers a casino that produces nothing over a steel plant.
