For those interested in checking out the photo exhibit, my son just messaged me that MSOE is having an all-you-can-eat fish fry at the Todd Wehr Auditorium from 4:30 to 7:30 on Friday night as well. Cost is $8 for non-MSOE students. The Todd Wehr is one block north of the Grohmann on Broadway, and on the west side of the street. I am going to be there, and I will try to grab a table for any other Boatnerd members to join me. Might as well take advantage of this and meet in person. Norskellunge. Dan, MilwBob, Sharyl, and anyone else, just look for the guy with crutches wearing glasses, and sort of thinning a bit on top.

Dan, the museum is open to the public on the MSOE campus. The building is beautiful and located downtown, with the galleries on the first floor just off the entrance. As Timerover mentioned, one of the authors and exhibiting artists will be present this Friday for a book signing.

Yes, Norskellunge, I am the gentleman looking to purchase the Bramble for use as a research ship, my son was wondering around in the red MSOE hoody, as he is a student there. My wife and daughter were there as well, and we went out afterward to celebrate my wife's birthday at the Safe House in Milwaukee. That is another place in Milwaukee worth checking out.

While you are there, you should take a look at some of the rest of the museum, as the entire collection is devoted to Man at work. One of the authors works at the Discovery World Museum and the other worked on the Lake boats in the early 1980s.

There is a fantastic panoramic photo of the 2009 layup in Sturgeon Bay, and another black and white photo of them working on a bow thruster. If you are interested in the Lake at all, it is very much worth seeing.

Sharyl, you might want to check out the Lake Boat Photo exhibit at the Grohmann Museum of the Milwaukee School of Engineering. They have some great photos, and on Friday evening, Jan. 21, one of the authors will be signing books and also the head of the Port of Milwaukee will be present. I will be up there as well. Just look for a guy on crutches who also is wearing glasses.

I am not referring to it's location. I am referring to it's next destination, which is reported as Port Inland, as found on the Marine Traffic site, not the sailwx. site. The next destinations are incorrect for other boats as well, not just the Sykes.

I'm right there with you--I was referring to the same thing. :) The destinations are very often off. I wonder if this is something the ship and/or her crew has to update and maybe they just get busy and don't get to it or something?

I would not go by the destinations listed on Marine Traffic. It's been showing the Sykes' as Port Inland for the last few weeks and it obviously hasn't been going there.

The Sykes' location is updated accurately and often by the following site:

Here are a few webcam caps of the Stewart J Cort arriving for layup at the Port of Milwaukee this morning...

The first cap is the G-Tug breaking ice in anticipation of the Corts (which was still on the other side of the bend) arrival. Of course the next two caps are of both the G-Tug and the Cort.

Stewart J. Cort is here. Been watching her and a G-Tug on the GLWI cam. It almost looks like she was "cruising" back and forth overnight before she came into port. Was wondering why? My two thoughts are (and they're probably off) that she was waiting for the G-Tug (which is breaking ice for her right now) or maybe trying to burn off fuel before she goes into layup?
